So what have I done so far this year..? Well I built a new desktop (which is better than my laptop that cost $1,200 about a year ago for $424! It made made me cry inside.. But thats alright, Funny thing is I don’t really even use it? Ok I do.. but not as a main machine.. You see I use it to make me money.

Other than that I’m still going to school and thats about it! VERY Exciting I know.. Although I do plan on getting an ATV by April, thats the goal atleast.. I need to make some more goals I think. Anyways there is a blog update

Ya, I went for a ride today and took my camera.. Sorry but I don’t really talk.. at all.. in this video.

Its pretty sweet, I road it for about an hour today and to say the least my butt hurts.. Oh and I can’t walk so great right now.. Feel like I just ran like.. 5 miles. But it feels good! I feel like a kid again!

So what exactly is a guild? Its a group of people that play together in wow. They range from social guilds that just talk to each other to hardcore raiding guilds. Whats raiding you ask? Its were 25 people get together and kill things.. think of it like 25 people doing a level of mario together and when they get to the boss at the end of the level they all work together to kill the boss. Some people heal, some people do damage, others keep the attention of the boss so they don’t hit the people doing damage or healing. When you kill the boss he drops items, like Swords, Helmets, Gloves, Belts, Boots… A bunch of items that you can use for your character within the game.. Kinda like zelda… Basically the point of raiding is to kill bosses, get better gear so you can kill harder bosses.. so on and so fourth.. So anyways the guild I was in was a hardcore raiding guild.

With a hardcore raiding guild afew things are pretty standard. First of all you must put in an application to get in to the guild in the first place, this is essentially a job application. You tell them your past experience in wow, you link them your character through the wow armory (which just shows them what gear your character has) obviously the better your gear, the better your chances of getting in to the guild.

Once you are accepted in to the guild (hired or whatever you wanna call it) by the guild leader (boss) you are required to raid at specific raid times. The raid times my guild used were (Eastern Time) Sunday through Wednesday 12 am to 5 am. This ment that for 20 hours a week (practically a part time job) I was sitting in front of my computer at that time with 24 other individuals playing world of warcraft. (try explaining to your date that you have a scheduled time to play a video game with 24 other people, mainly guys 4 times a week for 5 hours each. I garentee she will understand…) So we would kill mythical creatures and just having fun, and that is really why I did it.. I enjoyed it.. I had fun!

That is really why people do it, because they enjoy it. Its a hobby just like watching football with the guys or playing football on a local league. We talk to each other using headsets and communicate just as much as anyone playing a sports game would there just isn’t the human interaction that you would have with a football game.

So every week Sunday through Wednesday I was required to stay up from 10 pm to 3 am (Utah time) to raid, I did enjoy it don’t get me wrong.. But I also eneded up sleeping in until noon most days… Which wasn’t so awesome. So after 8 months of dedicated raiding I decided it wasn’t worth it to me to stay up that late. The game just wasn’t as fun as it used to be… Even with new content being released I just don’t enjoy it like I once did.. After two weeks of the new content (the past two weeks) I realized that I didn’t enjoy dying on attempts to kill a boss over and over for 5 hours a night.. Sure its not always like that but just in general I was having a hard time staying awake and when I was awake I didn’t enjoy playing, It was more like “I gotta be here and if i’m not then they are going to kick me out of the guild” And I wanted to stay in the guild…

But then recently I decided that I needed to give it up, so I did.. It wasn’t easy because the guild I was in was rated 2nd best on the server and for awhile we were in the top few hundred guilds nation wide.. Walking away from that is kinda hard to do. But I just wasn’t having fun anymore…  And I realized that the game is only as important as I make it. If I care about the game then its going to play a larger part in my life, if I don’t care about wow then it doesn’t really matter if I raid or not…

Today I logged in to wow and found that I was bored of it.. Its really interesting to see just how boring world of warcraft can become when you aren’t playing it with anyone but yourself. So I logged out after 5 minutes and got on facebook.. Oh and I messed around with some visual changed to my blog… like the new “Scotty Tedrow DoT com” Title? and the tagline? hehe…I do.

Anyways I was pretty scatterbrained with this post.. So if some of it doesn’t make sense thats why.. I had lots of ideas and I wanted to make a post saying “wow is boring without my guild” but nobody would understand that unless they knew what i was talking about.. so there you have it.. my geeky little secret.
